Anything involving a vehicle. Airport transfers, a car and driver for a night out, a car waiting outside a club at half past five — this is the single most valuable thing to hand over on an island where taxis simply run out in high season, and it can usually be arranged the same day.

Restaurant tables outside the handful of famous rooms. There are excellent kitchens in Sant Josep, Santa Gertrudis and the north that never appear on a visitor's list, and they can seat you on a Friday in August. If you will accept a good dinner rather than a specific dinner, this is trivially easy.

Boats, at a few days' notice. Provisioning, a skipper, mooring arrangements at Marina Botafoch or the adjacent marinas, a route adjusted for wind. Also villa staff, deliveries, a chef for one evening, and getting something repaired or replaced quickly.

A specific table at a specific well-known restaurant on a specific Saturday in August. These rooms fill weeks out, they hold very little back, and anyone who tells you otherwise is planning to disappoint you later. Ask early or accept a Tuesday.

Club tables on the biggest nights of the season. Availability exists but the minimum spend at short notice is not the same number you would have paid a month ago, and the position in the room is worse. The VIP club guide explains how the spend works.

Villas in the last three weeks of July and the whole of August. Anything decent is gone by spring. Late requests get what is left, which is usually further from the coast, further from town, or a lot more expensive than it should be.

Weather, which decides whether a boat day happens at all. A strong northerly wind will keep you on the southern and western coasts, and occasionally keeps you at the dock. No relationship with any operator changes that.

Traffic between Sant Antoni and the airport on a Saturday changeover day, when the whole island moves at once. And the six o'clock closing time at every club, which is fixed and applies to everyone regardless of what the table cost.

We would rather say this at the planning stage than let you discover it on the third day. If a request is not going to work, you get told immediately along with the alternative that will.

There is no membership and no minimum. Some clients use us for one evening and some for a fortnight. If your entire requirement is a driver for three nights and a boat, say that rather than asking for a full itinerary you do not want.

Four things get you a useful plan in one reply: dates, where you are staying, how many of you, and one sentence about what kind of week this is. Quiet and slow in the north is a different job from four nights out in the south, and the plans share almost nothing.
