Best Hotels in Ibiza — Book for the Trip You Are Having

Stay on the Playa d'en Bossa strip. The big properties there — the towers at the top of the beach and the resorts along it — put you ten minutes from the airport, on foot from Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza, and remove the transport problem entirely, which is the single biggest cost and annoyance of an Ibiza nightlife week.

What you accept in return is noise, scale and a beach that is a party rather than a swim. Nobody staying here is having a quiet Tuesday, so do not book it expecting one.

Ibiza Town holds the island's most characterful small hotels. Mirador de Dalt Vila sits inside the walls of the old town, Gran Hotel Montesol has the pavement terrace on Vara de Rey, and there are good small places tucked into the streets behind the port.

The advantages are real: everything walkable, the best concentration of restaurants on the island, Pacha by the marina, and no drive home. The costs are equally real — the old town is steep and stepped with no vehicle access to some doors, rooms are small, and the streets are loud in August.

Just round the bay, Talamanca gives you the same access with a quiet night and a beach, which for a lot of people is the better trade. Nobu Ibiza Bay is the well-known property on that stretch.

The north and the interior. Six Senses at Cala Xarraca sits on a cove near the top of the island, Hacienda Na Xamena is up on the northern cliffs, and inland the agroturismos around Santa Gertrudis and Sant Llorenç — Cas Gasi among them — are converted fincas with a handful of rooms each.

This is the most beautiful accommodation on Ibiza and it comes with an hour's drive from the airport, unlit roads, and the practical reality that dinner means driving or eating where you are staying. Take it if the trip is genuinely slow.

The east coast around Santa Eulària is the compromise nobody considers enough: proper hotels, a real town with restaurants, calm evenings, and about twenty-five minutes into Ibiza Town.

Above about six people, villas win on cost per head and on not having to negotiate breakfast for a group. They also win on privacy, which is why longer bookings and companion stays more often happen at a villa than a hotel.

What they cost you is service and location. There is nobody to fix the air conditioning at midnight, and most of the good ones are down unmarked tracks that navigation apps mishandle. Rates run from a few hundred a night for something modest out of season to genuinely large numbers for a staffed property in August.

Anything decent for the first three weeks of August is gone by spring. Book early or take a hotel.

How far is it from where you will be at four in the morning. Which way the room faces, and whether the pool bar has a DJ. Whether the hotel is adults-only, because a surprising number here are and a surprising number of guests do not notice.

What the transfer actually costs and how long it takes — an hour each way to the north adds up fast across a week. And whether the property is open for your dates at all, because many close from late October until spring.
