Two things before you book a room. Suites facing the Ushuaïa stage are the most requested on the island in August and go months ahead. And the strip is loud, so if you intend to sleep before mid-morning, ask for something at the back rather than over the beach road.

Bossa is stronger on beach clubs than on restaurants and it is worth being honest about that. Most dinners here happen at the beach clubs themselves, which serve into the evening as the music shifts, or at the hotel restaurants, which are decent rather than interesting. Bossa is one of the quickest addresses on the island to reach — fifteen to twenty minutes from most of the south — so short notice is usually workable outside the August peak. The caveat is traffic: the beach road slows badly in the early evening and again at closing time, so build in a margin rather than trusting the map.

It is not an area that rewards a short booking. A three-hour evening starting at nine ends before the club has properly begun. Most bookings here run long and a fair share become overnight stays simply because of when the night finishes.
