The number you are quoted is a bar tab you commit to reaching, not an entry fee. If the minimum is a couple of thousand and your group drinks its way through that, you have paid for drinks and the table came with it. If you drink half, you pay the full number anyway.

Every club has tables that are worth the money and tables that are a shelf near a fire exit sold at the same price. The difference is sightline to the booth, distance from the loudest speaker stack, and whether people have to walk through you all night.

At Hï Ibiza on the Playa d'en Bossa strip, the elevated positions look down over the main room and that is what you are paying for. Ushuaïa opposite is open-air and finishes early, so a table there is an afternoon and evening booking rather than a late one. Pacha, by the marina in Ibiza Town, is a smaller and more segmented building, so which room your table is in matters more than at either of those.

Book through someone who will tell you which table you are getting rather than just the price. If nobody can answer that question, you are buying a number.

Arrive between one and two. Doors are around midnight and the room is thin until then, so an earlier arrival mostly means paying bar prices to watch staff finish setting up. Everything closes at six, which makes the last two hours the best two.

Dress is smart but not formal — no beachwear, no sportswear, and shoes rather than sandals. That is genuinely most of the rule, and it is enforced more at the port venues than out at Sant Rafel.

Settle who is paying before you sit down. A table with a running tab and an unclear owner is the single most common way a good night ends in an argument at half past five.

If there are two or three of you and you intend to be on the floor rather than sitting, buy tickets online in advance and keep the money. The sound is the same everywhere in the room and the crowd is better in the middle of it.

If the night you care about is out at Amnesia in Sant Rafel or DC-10 near the salt flats, table culture is not really the point of either and you will look like you missed it. Those are floor rooms — and both need a car in each direction, which is the expense worth paying instead.
