Yacht Escorts Ibiza — Eight Hours on a Boat With the Same People

A boat day sounds like the easiest booking on the list and it is the one people misjudge most. It is eight to ten hours, usually with the same six or eight people, mostly in swimwear, in front of a crew who are within earshot the entire time. Nobody can go home early.

That is a specific set of conditions. Some companions are completely at home in it and some are politely miserable by two in the afternoon, and the difference is not visible in a photograph.

What the Day Is Physically Like

Sun for most of it, salt on everything, and no meaningful shade on a lot of boats once you are anchored. Phone signal comes and goes depending on where the captain drops the hook. Whatever you did not bring at nine in the morning, you do not have at four in the afternoon.

If there is any swell at all, someone on board will feel it. Sea legs are not a personality trait you can talk yourself into, so we ask directly rather than assume: has she done a full day before, on what size of boat, and did she enjoy it. It is a short conversation and it saves a long afternoon.

Which Marina You Leave From

Most charters go from Marina Botafoch, Marina Ibiza or Ibiza Magna, all clustered around the Ibiza Town side of the water, which makes a morning pick-up straightforward from town, Talamanca or Playa d'en Bossa. If you are staying in the north, factor in an hour before departure and set the booking to start there.

Boarding times are earlier than people expect. A nine or ten o'clock departure means a car well before that, which for anyone who was out until four is a genuinely different day. If the night before involves a club, book the boat for the day after that instead — see the charter guide for how the day is normally structured.

Where the Boat Actually Goes

Two routes cover the majority of days. West and south along the coast towards Cala Jondal, Cala d'Hort and the water underneath Es Vedrà, which is the dramatic version and the one people photograph. Or south to Formentera, which is a half-hour hop by fast ferry and not much longer by boat, with a long anchored lunch and a slow ride back.

The Formentera day is the better one and it eats the whole day. Lunch at Juan y Andrea by the water, an afternoon at anchor, back into the marina towards evening. Do not plan a dinner reservation at nine and expect to make it.

Wind decides more than preference does. When it blows from the north the captain will keep you on the southern and western side of the island, which is why the promised route sometimes changes at the dock. That is normal and not a sign anyone is cutting corners.

Agree These Four Things First

Who else is on board, and whether it is friends or business. A charter with colleagues aboard is a working evening in swimwear and the shortlist changes accordingly — the VIP tier handles most of those.

Photographs. Boats generate a lot of them, and no companion on our roster appears in any. Tell your group at the start rather than halfway through lunch.

The finish. If the day ends at seven and you want dinner afterwards, that is a twelve-hour booking, and she needs somewhere to change. Say so at the outset and we will build it in.

And the notice: a week for a full charter day in July or August, particularly with more than one companion. A couple of days is usually enough in May, June and late September. Start with the full roster or the luxury tier if the day is a slow one.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Eight to ten hours from the marina and back, typically leaving between nine and ten in the morning. Price the booking for the whole of it — nobody is getting off in the middle.

She will sort her own swimwear, cover-up, sun protection and a change of clothes. What helps is knowing in advance whether the day ends at the dock or continues into dinner, because that decides what goes in the bag.

We can point you at operators and coordinate the timing, but the charter contract is between you and them. Ask any quote what it excludes — fuel, skipper and mooring at the smarter marinas are often separate lines.

Not really. Between the crossing, the anchored lunch and the ride back you have used the day, and rushing it removes the only reason to go. Treat it as a full-day booking or pick a coastal route instead.
